Hi everyone how are you? General Liability insurance is coverage for your business as we all know. What we aim to buy is what is required if we have a landlord and we are a tenant. It is important to be sure of the coverage that is available to you. For instance landlords require that you have damage to premises insurance for your business. It is important to understand that damage to premises covers the building for fire damage and damage that you cause to the interior of the building. What it does not cover is damage to the outside of the building and walls out. For example if your business is broken into the damage of the glass broken door is not covered under damage to premises limit. You would need to include building coverage to have that included in the claim. Now the owner of the building does have insurance for their building but many times you the tenant will not want to ask the landlord to make a claim for fear that they will increase your monthly rent when the contract comes up for renewal. I would recommend at least carrying $5,000 - $15,000 building coverage for any miscellaneous claims that may occur that the landlord should take care of but you would like to deal with it on your own with the landlords permission. This will greatly reduce the headache of the back and forth or any out of pocket expenses you could incur.
